Our client is an Indiana based construction firm seeking a Safety Manager to join their team in Lafayette, Indiana. This individual must know

Safety Manager Responsibilities

  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
  • Identifies common safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organization's operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.
  • Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
  • Monitors performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Establish and champion policies which will create and maintain a safe workplace
  • Discover opportunities for improving conditions
  • Communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.
  • Ensuring each jobsite meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle workers compensation claims
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Maintains inventory of required safety PPE and other job site equipment required to maintain a safe and compliant worksite.
  • Attend project meetings and events to offer guidance and resources when opportunities arise.

Safety Manager Requirements

  • Experience working with large ground-up projects in excess of $10M
  • 5+ years of safety experience in construction and manufacturing and coordination of safety and loss control policy
  • Site-level experience with self-performing crews
  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • CHST certification a plus
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Hazardous waste, remediation, and environmental management experience
  • Industrial hygiene and hazardous material management experience

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Commercial Construction Safety: 3 years (Required)
  • concrete / masonry construction: 1 year (Preferred)
  • ground-up construction safety on projects in excess of $10M: 3 years (Required)
  • manufacturing safety: 2 years (Required)
  • working in a manufacturing or industrial setting: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Certified Safety Professional (Preferred)
  • OSHA 30 (Required)

Ability to Commute:

  • Lafayette, IN (Required)
